Production and conversion of HCN is a narrow field, practiced by few chemical producers. It requires a unique set of skills for safe handling, personnel training, and technical expertise in HCN reaction chemistry. While there are more than 2 million tonnes per year of Global HCN production, there are few producers in number. Many are focused on major commodities like Methyl methacrylate and Adiponitrile for Polyamide production. HCN is not normally transported so the producer normally uses it at the site of production.
